USB
If
you prefer to connect eBeam to a USB port you must
obtain a USB to Serial Converter. The Entrega USB
to Serial DB9 Converter (a product of Entrega Technologies,
Inc.) works with eBeam. You
can order this product from your eBeam distributor.
Note:
This converter requires Windows 95b or Windows 98;
it does not support Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000.
Installing
the USB converter
Once the USB converter hardware is installed, insert
the floppy disk provided with the USB converter.
- Install
software for the converter firmware and for the
converter driver.
At the end of the installation, the next available
COM port is assigned to the converter. (For complete
setup instructions, refer to the installation instructions
that come with the converter.)
To
use the USB port with eBeam
Before
continuing, make certain the converter is connected
to the USB port of your computer.
- Select
Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Double
click on the System icon.
- Display
the Device Manager tab of the System Properties
dialog box.
- Click
the Ports selection and note the COM port
number beside the "USB COM Port."
- Plug
the power adapter cable into the end of the serial
cable (large DB9 connector).
- Connect
the DB9 connector on the serial cable from the right
eBeam pod to the converter.
Is
the serial cable securely connected to the right
pod and the USB converter on the PC?
- No
- please connect the serial cable correctly
and continue
- Yes
