The eBeam software is designed to let you host or join meetings over the Internet or intranet, without the use of a third-party application such as NetMeeting. However, if you would like to, you can also use your eBeam-enabled whiteboard as the input device into the NetMeeting "virtual" whiteboard.

FAQs
For additional "how to" information, please read the data conferencing FAQs.

eBeam Meetings
Using the eBeam
data conferencing capabilities, you can connect up to 20 participants over the Internet or 10 participants over your intranet. Simply by hosting a meeting and using the eBeam application, you can share meeting notes and brainstorming ideas with everyone as you create them. What is written or drawn will be seen by all of the data conferencing participants, whether they join using a standard Web browser or their own eBeam application.

And, if you don't have a server to host meetings, you can share your Ideas across the Internet using the eBeam Meeting Server! This is a service provided by Luidia free of charge, for our eBeam customers.

Meeting Requirements

  • Windows 98 SE, NT 4.0, ME, 2000, or XP or Mac OS X 10.1 or higher
  • Meeting host - eBeam Software 1.1 or later, or eBeam Interact (any version). The host should have an eBeam receiver.
  • Meeting participants - eBeam Software 1.1 or later, or eBeam Interact (any version). The participants do not need an eBeam receiver, only the free software download.
  • Web participants - For participants unable to download and install software, the Web client may be used, although it does not support some meeting features. It requires Netscape 4.0 or later, or Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, as well as Sun's Java 1.3 or later.
  • 400MHz processor
  • 16MB of free RAM
  • Internet connection (for eBeam Meeting Server) or TCP/IP network (to use your own server)
  • Optional support for NetMeeting

Setting up a Meeting

  1. The host shares a Meeting by setting a name and, optionally, a password.
  2. Participants are notified of the Meeting name, time and password through an e-mail invitation.
  3. Participants join the Meeting, either through a browser, or through the eBeam software on PC or Mac.
  4. When the Meeting begins, the host begins writing on the eBeam-enabled whiteboard. If the host chooses to allow it, participants can also add annotations.

That's all there is to it!
