If
the eBeam application cannot "find" the eBeam
pods, that could be due to faulty eBeam hardware, an improper
cable connection, or a problem with the PC COM port.
This
diagnostic series will deal only with COM port
problems. At this point it is assumed that your hardware
appears functional (i.e., pod LED and serial cable
LED are lit) and connected properly. If you do not
know if your hardware is connected correctly, please
perform the Initial
Diagnostic.
The
top three COM port configuration problems are due
to:
- Another
serial device keeping the COM port open (e.g., infrared
port, PalmPilot).
- The
COM port is turned OFF in BIOS.
- The
COM port is faulty.
As
you can see, there are a wide variety of reasons why
communications may not be established between the
eBeam Capture Bar and the PC.
Continue
with Managing
COM Ports.
