Installing Java Runtime Environment

Java Runtime Environment (or JRE) is required for Web sites and applications to display multimedia content, animations, and more.

If you want to import Microsoft Word and Excel files into Scrapbook, you need to have Java Runtime Environment installed. Note that PowerPoint files only require that you have PowerPoint installed.

In addition, if your eBeam Scrapbook file contains a metafile object (a file type with a .WMF extension), for example, you won’t be able to view it without Java Runtime Environment.

Click the Download link and then follow the steps below to install Java Runtime Environment SE (Standard Edition).

Download Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

Make sure you select the latest JRE version available and click the Download link.

Click to accept Oracle’s License Agreement.

Select the download for your version of Windows.

 · If you have a 32-bit operating system, select the download for Windows x86.

 · If you have a 64-bit operating system, select the download for Windows x64.

If you don’t know which version you have installed, navigate to your computer’s System Properties to find out.

Windows 8: Go to PC Settings > PC and devices > PC info (or go to Settings > PC info)

Windows 7: Go to Start > Computer > System properties

Click the download link.

We recommend that you select the executable (.exe) link for your version of Windows. The tar.gz link will require you to extract (or “un-tar”) the software. We also recommend that you do not choose the Offline option.

Close and reopen eBeam Scrapbook.
