Luidia Announces New Software Bundle for Education

Pack Includes Content from Quia, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Discovery Channel

SAN CARLOS, CA – May 31, 2007 – Luidia, Inc., a leading global provider of idea capturing technology and manufacturer of eBeam® interactive systems, today announced the release of a new software bundle for the eBeam® product line. The package includes a variety of educational content recommended by teachers across multiple grade levels. These include Quia Web, Encyclopaedia Britannica, and Discovery Channel.

“Educators across the nation have been long-time supporters of eBeam technology, amazed at how easily it can be incorporated into a lesson using their existing projectors and software,” said Jody Forehand, Vice President of Product Planning, Luidia. “Now, thanks to the rich array of ready-made content available in this bundle, their students’ learning experience will be transformed into an entirely new interactive experience!”

The Software Bundle includes:

  • A one year subscription to Quia Web – A virtual gold mine of activities and resources for K-12 teachers that includes: templates for creating 16 different types of online activities (such as flash cards, word search, battleship, and other exercises); online testing tools for creating and grading quizzes; and access to online activities and quizzes created by teachers from around the world.
  • 2007 Encyclopaedia Britannica Ultimate Reference Suite CD – Contains content from The Encyclopedia Britannica, the Britannica Student Encyclopedia, the Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia, and The Collegiate and Student dictionaries and thesauri from Merriam-Webster. The CD also includes a variety of other resources and tools for K-12 students, including Homework Helpdesk, Virtual Notecards, and Atlas.
  • Discovery Channel School Image Gallery CD-ROM – Offers more than 3,000 clip-art images, as well as animal and nature photographs, organized according to five curriculum areas: science, social studies, math, language arts and health.

Also included in the bundle are a sampler CD from Evan-Moor Educational Publishers and a 30-day trial of EverNote 2.0 from EverNote Corporation.

Paul Mishkin, President of Quia Corporation, adds, “Keeping students engaged and focused is a constant challenge for teachers. With the eBeam interactive hardware and a digital projector, an instructor can bring any of Quia's three million Web-based educational games and quizzes into the classroom so that that the whole class can participate at the same time. What a wonderful, not to mention incredibly easy, way to get an entire roomful of students working together and immersed in learning!"

Availability
The Software Pack will be available from Luidia’s U.S. dealer channel and web store (www.luidia.com) in late June.

Formerly a division of Electronics for Imaging (NASDQ: EFII), the world’s foremost maker of imaging solutions for network printing, Luidia was incorporated in July 2003.

About eBeam Technology
The eBeam hardware works with a projector to turn any flat surface into a giant virtual touch screen. The eBeam stylus acts as a mouse, while the eBeam software captures your notes and drawings and lets you share them with anyone over the Net in real time. Teachers and presenters can control any mouse or keyboard function from the front of the room while actively engaging the audience. A PowerPoint specific tool palette gives users the flexibility of annotating slide shows on the fly and saving the mark-ups back to the original file. The software enables presenters, consultants and educators to collaborate via the Internet, making remote meetings and teamwork not only possible, but much more efficient, productive, and cost-effective.
