EFI Joins Texas Instruments DSP Third Party Network To
Provide eBeam Digital Whiteboard Communications Technology
FOSTER CITY, Calif. – March 10, 2003 – Electronics
For Imaging (Nasdaq:
EFII), the world leader in imaging solutions for network
printing, today announced that they joined the Texas Instruments
(TI) digital
signal processing (DSP) third party network as a licensed
manufacturer and third party DSP developer of digital whiteboard
technology.
The award-winning eBeam® digital whiteboard
appliance captures meeting notes and diagrams as they
are created on whiteboards and broadcasts them over the
Internet or corporate intranet in real-time. The information
can then be easily viewed, saved, edited or printed using
a PC or Mac. Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards
and copyboards, eBeam is portable, easy to install
and Web-enabled. The entire system – consisting of
a palm-sized receiver, pen sleeves, standard dry-erase
pens and an eraser – can be carried in a laptop case
and installed in minutes.
“Our customers rely on efficient, easy to use devices
for effective real-time communication. Building on the
power of theTMS320C5000™ and TMS320C6000™ platforms
significantly speeds our development cycle and ensures
delivery of a
solid, powerful product,” said Rafi Holtzman, eBeam
General Manager, EFI. “We are pleased to work with
TI to leverage the strength of its DSP technology in our
eBeam digital whiteboard solutions.”
EFI plans to use TI’s TMS320VC5402 and TMS320C6211
DSP devices for its complete line of eBeam digital whiteboard
technologies, including eBeam System 3, and offer it as
a component in integrated solutions with partners such
as 3M and General Binding Corporation (GBC). As a member
of TI’s third party network, EFI licenses digital
media technology for the TMS320™ programmable DSPs to accelerate
development efforts, reduce time-to-market and provide
customers with a more reliable product for its eBeam digital
whiteboard solutions.
“We are dedicated to providing a complete, real-world
signal processing solution for high-performance digital
imaging,” said Cathy Wicks, third-party marketing
manger, TI. “We are pleased to work together with
EFI to significantly increase the functionality of its
eBeam product line and provide even more powerful solutions
to the digital whiteboard market.”
