New Release Supports Largest Whiteboard Capture Area
and Offers New Presentation Tools for Education and
Training Environments
FOSTER CITY, Calif. - September 10, 2002 -
Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFII),
the world leader in software and hardware imaging
solutions for network printing, today introduced powerful
new capabilities to its award-winning eBeam System
3 , the world's most compact digital whiteboard system.
The latest eBeam software features new presentation
tools for digital projectors and offers the largest
coverage area of any digital whiteboard appliance
on the market.
The eBeam system captures meeting notes and diagrams
as they are created on whiteboards and broadcasts
them over the Internet or corporate intranet in real-time.
The new software allows two eBeam System 3 receiver
units to be linked via USB to cover up to 12' by 4',
the largest capture area of any digital whiteboard
solution on the market.
The software upgrade also offers a bevy of new presentation
tools for use with digital projectors. The eBeam system
converts the projected area of a whiteboard into a
virtual touchscreen, allowing presenters to open applications
and control the computer by using the eBeam pen as
a "mouse" on the board. Instructor control
and ease-of-use have been enhanced by the addition
of a floating toolbar and on-screen keyboard. Users
can also annotate presentations and save screen captures
of any work done in any application, and use the new
"Web tour" feature to incorporate Internet
content into presentations in real-time.
"eBeam's digital whiteboard has great potential
to increase classroom and distance learning by ensuring
all students receive the whiteboard notes at their
computer workstations, giving them the freedom to
focus exclusively on the presentation. We think eBeam
will be a powerful learning tool in our new 21st century,
high tech high school," said Dennis Barbata,
Principal, School of Science and Technology, Evergreen
Valley High School.
"We are pleased to deliver this powerful, more
intuitive suite of tools for trainers, teachers, and
anyone who uses a digital projector, to easily and
effectively present information," said Rafi Holtzman,
eBeam General Manager, EFI. "Presenters can now
incorporate content from a variety of sources easily,
including the Internet, as well as effortlessly control,
navigate, and annotate their projected materials in
real time. It is the ideal solution for classroom
instruction or any training environment."
