EFI Introduces Next Generation eBeam™ Software at CES

eBeam Moderator™ and eBeam Presenter™ offer educators, trainers, and remote teams a new set of tools for collaboration and communication

LAS VEGAS, NV - January 08, 2001 - Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (EFI) (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in enabling networked printing solutions, today introduced the next generation of software for the eBeam Internet office appliance at the Consumer Electronics Show. The eBeam system captures meeting notes and diagrams as they are created on existing whiteboards and broadcasts them over the Internet or corporate intranet in real time. eBeam Moderator and eBeam Presenter software will give educators, corporate trainers, and remote teams greater flexibility in sharing and annotating documents and whiteboard notes.

eBeam Moderator, a free upgrade from the version 1.1 software, features a new user interface; a fully integrated eBeam MouseTM application; the ability to choose line thickness and color for each individual pen sleeve, and enhanced meeting hosting options. Users can also insert background images from other applications into whiteboard meetings for all participants to view and annotate.

"For presenters and meeting participants, the eBeam system is the perfect tool for enriching communication during meetings and presentations," says Rafi Holtzman, general manager, eBeam. "Business users depend upon a variety of software applications for their meetings and presentations. Now users can enhance teamwork between remote locations by incorporating their spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, or other documents into one shared space and by using the eBeam system to annotate those materials, as well. The new eBeam Moderator software creates a more productive shared experience for all meeting participants."

In addition, this latest version of software will also support eBeam Presenter, a plugin that will allow the eBeam system to synchronize users' strokes with sound when recording a meeting. The eBeam Presenter records whiteboard drawings and audio simultaneously. The two data streams are merged for playback so that the whiteboard images and voices are in sync when the meeting is reviewed later. Students who missed a class or coworkers who missed a meeting can hear the presentation and discussion, as well as see the notes and drawings as they occurred during the meeting.

"Whether used for training, brainstorming, board meetings or interactive collaborative sessions over the Internet, the eBeam system is the perfect whiteboard companion for more effective meetings and increased teamwork," says Holtzman. "Users recognize the value of enhanced meeting tools and understand the benefits of being able to capture the momentum of a meeting as events occur. Now, people who are unable to attend a meeting can experience it as close to real-time as possible."

Availability
The eBeam Moderator download is free to all customers and is available for download at www.luidia.com. The eBeam Presenter will be priced at approximately $100 and will be available for download at www.luidia.com later this month.

About eBeam

Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards and copyboards, the eBeam marker system is portable, easy to install, and Web-enabled. The palm-sized unit -- consisting of two small pods, a pen sleeve, a standard dry-erase pen, and an eraser -- can be carried in a laptop case and installed in less than five minutes.
