Whiteboard
Technology Hits the Web
Foster
City, Calif. - February 7, 2000 - Electronics For
Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in enabling
networked printing solutions, debuted today the eBeam
Meeting ServerT, the latest addition to the eBeam family
of products, at the Demo 2000 Conference in Indian Wells,
California.
Developed
for enterprises that depend upon teamwork among geographically
disperse work groups, the eBeam Meeting Server allows
organizations to host multiple whiteboard conference sessions
involving hundreds of users simultaneously over the Internet
or intranet. Unlike other solutions that require subscription
services or limit users to one platform, the eBeam server
operates over the Internet or on any internal network.
This solution will allow organizations to host whiteboard
conferences for remote participants without modifying
company firewalls and without sacrificing security. The
new server enhances the eBeam digitizing hardware by providing
a truly scalable and secure system for hosting whiteboard
conference sessions.
The
eBeam Server can run independently or with eBeam whiteboard
digitizing hardware. eBeam automatically captures color
notes and drawings, digitizes them, and allows the information
to be saved and exported into most standard applications,
such as word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail. Meeting
notes are broadcast in real-time to remote participants
who view the meeting through any Java(-enabled browser
or through the eBeam client.
"We're
pleased to have Electronics For Imaging introducing the
eBeam Meeting Server at Demo 2000. It embodies the convergence
of several trends that we see driving 'The New Office:'
connected Internet appliances, host-based applications,
customer relationship management, and digital imaging,"
said Chris Shipley, editor and publisher of DemoLetter
and executive producer of the Demo conferences for IDG.
"The eBeam Meeting Server will give organizations tremendous
flexibility in linking teams regardless of location, network
types, or client platforms."
The
eBeam server will ship in Q2 2000. Final pricing and availability
are to be announced, but pricing is expected to start
at approximately $2995. Find out where to purchase eBeam
whiteboard digitizing hardware at http://www.luidia.com
